The authorities are hoping to recover more bodies from the tangled debris in the affected areas.

According to Snohomish County Fire District 21/22, search crews are on site, by air and land to look for any survivors. Said Travis Hots, Chief of the fire district:
We didn't see or hear any signs of life out there today
It's very disappointing to all emergency responders on scene.
Preliminary estimate shows that at least, a square mile of area succumbed to total devastation. Gov. Jay Inslee said in a media conference on Sunday:
literally not a vertical stick standing. Everything within that path has been leveled.
A much detailed listing of the damages says, there are as many as 30 homes destroyed.

The mudslide occurred near the town of Oso about 55 miles north of Seattle.
