Ella Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 – June 15, 1996) was remarkably known for her vocal range that spans 3 octaves, that is (D3 to D6). Aside from being notable interpreter of the Great American Songbook, she was also recognized for her:
purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability
Among the awards of Ella in her 59-years recording career are: National Medal of Arts by Ronald Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George H. W. Bush.
