Philippines 30 Aircrafts and 3 Warships to Join Balikatan Exercise -- Various types of military aircraft and warships are marked to participate in this year's joint Philippine-US Balikatan military exercises, which will be conducted in various areas of the country. There will be around 8,000 Filipino and US troops to participate in the joint drills.
Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr., spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said to press yesterday:
Military aircraft, naval assets will be seeing action in support of combined Filipino and US ground personnel in the Phl-US Balikatan exercises, which will officially kick off on Friday
At the moment, there are already 14 US military planes stationed at Clark Air Base in Pampanga. Six (6) more will be coming over, this week.

Amidst tensions going on in the Korean territories, this joint military training will be pushed through. It is yet another pivotal move for the Philippine's military force, in cooperation with the United States.

This year's Balikatan is the 4th HA/DR-focused Bilateral Exercise. The first one was in 2008, second in 2010 while the third one was done last year. This annual cooperative military training is under the 1951 Phl-US Mutual Defense Treaty. (
