Tommy Lee Jones as Gen. Douglas MacArthur in EMPEROR Movie --  Tommy Lee Jones stars in a movie "Emperor" together with  Isao Natsuyagi. This is a film by British director  Peter Webber talking about the American postwar occupation of Japan.
MacArthur played by Jones will be showing the interesting plight of the General as an arrogant, short-tempered and ambitious though, with a rather good side as a motivated and decent man in his own time or era, with high regard for peace and the Japanese people. He also got the unique trait where he cuts through the delicate protocols and manners of the Japanese people.

The story of the movie goes on to feature the meeting of McArthur and the then Emperor Hirohito (Takataro Kataoka). It is equally fascinating to see how McArthur went his way as he violated some Japanese ground rules like shaking the hands of Hirohito, as well as looking straight to the emperor's eyes and standing beside him in a certain picture to be taken.
The issues are clearly explained in this earnest historical reconstruction, filtered through the perspective of MacArthur’s right-hand man, Gen. Bonner Fellers (Matthew Fox of "Lost"). Fellers is charged with determining whether Hirohito, regarded as a god by his people, should be prosecuted for war crimes. Specifically, was Hirohito, an avowed pacifist, pressured by militants to approve the bombing of Pearl Harbor? MacArthur demands clear-cut evidence. Fellers, given a strict time limit, must infiltrate the emperor’s inner circle to find out.
Emperor's screenplay was done by David Klass and Vera Blasi. In general, the movie goes as a piece of cultural relativism.

Emperor movie also shows the occasion where the Japanese referred to the Americans as "cockroaches that stink", whereby accordingly, Gen. McArthur declaimed:
Let’s show them some good old-fashioned American swagger
