BMW Recalls 220,000 Vehicles Due to Airbag Issue -- Top car maker BMW is set to recall vehicles from around the world, those with the model years 2002 and 2003 due to escalating issues pertaining to airbags defects.
The cars under recall are the following: 3-Series sedans, coupes, convertibles and station wagons.

There has been widening concerns on the part of Takata Corp, BMW's airbags supplier. Just the last month, one may recall that about 4M vehicles coming from Toyota Motor Corp, Nissan Motor Co, Honda Motor Co and Mazda Motor Corp were recalled due to airbags issues too. Notably, 1.3M of the vechiles affected are within the United States.

There has been doubts that Takata airbags may not inflate properly when needed. It is said that there is a manufacturing defect in its propellant in the airbag inflation system. As possible results and consequences, injuries maybe severe as passengers may be subjected to fires or explosion of metal fragments and glass materials.
