NASA reveals new astronaut class: Names and brief bio

NASA just got its new set of astronaut class for its future space missions to Mars. The new pack, a mix of professionals from science academy and military discipline is composed of eight (8) Americans - 4 men and 4 women.

The new crew could be joining NASA's lined-up space explorations. NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said:
These new space explorers asked to join NASA because they know we're doing big, bold things here — developing missions to go farther into space than ever before
They're excited about the science we're doing on the International Space Station and our plan to launch from U.S. soil to there on spacecraft built by American companies. And they're ready to help lead the first human mission to an asteroid and then on to Mars.
The lucky 8 new astronauts were chosen from over 6,000 applicants. It is the second largest that NASA had.

Meet the new candidates for a space mission of NASA, as listed below:

1. Josh A. Cassada, Ph.D., 39 - a former naval aviator who holds an undergraduate degree from Albion College, plus an advanced degrees from the University of Rochester, N.Y.

2. Tyler N. (Nick) Hague, 37 - a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

3. Victor J. Glover, 37 - Lt. Commander, U.S. Navy from Pomona, Calif. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School.

4. Christina M. Hammock, 34 - with undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, N.C. Currently serving as National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration Station chief in American Samoa.

5. Nicole Aunapu Mann, 35 - a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps, originally is from Penngrove, Calif. She is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Stanford University.

6. Anne C. McClain, 34 - a Major in the U.S. Army. She is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

7. Jessica U. Meir, Ph.D., 35 - from Caribou, Maine. She is a graduate of Brown University.. an advanced degree from the International Space University. With a doctorate from Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

8. Andrew R. Morgan, M.D., 37 - a Major in the U.S. Army. She is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point ..earned a doctorate of medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Md.
