Deadly Spain train crash: Death toll reaches 60, 131 injured

Reuters latest online report a few minutes ago list at least 60 dead and 131 injured when a train derailed at the Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday. It is the worst train accident so far.

Smoke lingered at the overturned carriages, while dead bodies lie next. Ambulances and fire fighters swarm the scene to save whatever things possible.

At the moment, the Spanish government is on the duty of investigating the possible causes of the derailment.

The train accident happened on the eve of the festival in honor of Saint James. A lot of people trooped to the streets to join the feast. Passenger Ricardo Montesco told Cadena Ser radio station:
It was going so quickly. ... It seems that on a curve the train started to twist, and the wagons piled up one on top of the other 
A lot of people were squashed on the bottom. We tried to squeeze out of the bottom of the wagons to get out and we realized the train was burning. ... I was in the second wagon and there was fire. ... I saw corpses
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy intends to visit the accident site on Thursday.

Ideas on the causes of the train accident rose amidst initial queries. Some even thought, there was some sort of a sabotage in tragic event. (Reuters)
