Maring Victims: Number of Marikina evacuees reaches 17,000

Due to the continuous ravaging of storm Maring, class and work suspensions remained active since Monday. A lot of areas succumbed to heavy rains and floods for two days straight.

One of the low lying areas in Metro Manila that is directly affected by such phenomenon is Marikina. According to the latest report from Marikina public information office via its Twitter account, the number of people evacuated went as much as 17,000 already.

Marikina is lying by the Marikina river banks, hence flooding has been on the high alert. In fact the water level remained at alert level four.
