P10 hike on minimum wage in Metro Manila approved

Minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region are now entitled to a P10 increase in salary, Labor Secretary Baldoz announced on Friday.
The declaration of approval is also made available online via Philippine Gazette.

According to Baldoz, the salary increase covers workers in the private sectors in the National Capital Region. It was based on the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) Wage Order No. 18.

Along with the said order is the integration of the:
P15 of the existing P30 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) under RTWPB-NCR Wage Order No. 17 into the basic wage effective 1 January 2014.
Thus, bringing the new basic wage into P451 while the minimum wage will be P466.

Covered in this wage hike are private sector workers of all positions, designations and statuses of employment.

On the other hand, not covered are domestic helpers, drivers and workers of a Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) with Certificates of Authority pursuant to RA 9178.
