Uruguay may sell marijuana next year

That is right, Uruguay could be selling marijuana next year once a proposed law gets approved, top official said.
Uruguay is hoping to take care of the illegal selling of the drug through legalization and regulation. National Drug Board chief Jose Calzada said:
The illegal market is very risky and offers poor quality
(The state) will provide a safe place to buy, a good quality product and, moreover, will sell at a standard price.
Once approved, Uruguay government wishes to sell marijuana for $1 a gram, slightly lower than the going market (illegal), which is $1.40.

The law shall allow people to cultivate marijuana of their own for up to 6 cannabis plants for personal use.

The proposal is now awaiting for Uruguay's senate approval. Said Senate health committee member Luis Gallo, the bill is expected to get approved in the next couple of weeks or so.
