6.9 Magnitude quake hit California coast

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of northern California on Sunday, according to US Geological Survey (USGS). The image below shows the location of the tremor:

The quake happened at 0518 GMT on March 10, 2014. Here is a quick summary of the report from USGS:

Epicenter: 77 kilometers (48 miles) west-northwest of the town of Ferndale

Depth: 7 kilometers (4.3 miles)

USGS reported no immediate damages nor casualties due to the said quake but as per records, the ground disturbance must have been felt as far as San Francisco.

Also, in the next five (5) days, the USGS indicated that there is a 90% chance that a strong aftershock will emerge. Source: http://www.thestar.com.my/
