11 vital signs of Meningococcemia - do you know?

Just this morning, a 17-year old and a young boy in Cebu and Davao del Sur respectively, died of a suspected meningococcemia.

A certain teenager in Mandaue, Cebu developed signs of meningococcemia while at his boarding house; His hospital confinement did not save him, unfortunately.

The boy in Davao died before his 2nd birthday. He also developed the same signs - that of meningococcemia.

  2. Stiff neck
  3. Convulsion, delirium in some
  4. Altered mental status
  5. Vomiting
  6. Cough
  7. Sore throat, other respiratory symptoms
  8. Pinpoint rashes then become wider and appear like bruises starting on the legs and arms
  9. Large map like bruise-like patches
  10. Severe skin lesions may lead to gangrene
  11. Unstable vital signs
