Microsoft to stop Windows XP support on April 8

Microsoft is going to end its support for Windows XP, thereby consumers are being urged to upgrade their computers as soon as possible.

Windows XP support

Windows XP without support from Microsoft means, the 13-year-old operating system (OS) cannot expect any critical security updates.

Although Windows XP software will still work even without support, the downside will be, systems using it will be more prone to cyber attacks.

The discontinuation of Windows XP support should have been implemented in 2010, but in 2007, Microsoft decided to extend the support until April 2014 since the OS is still being used quite widely.

According to estimates, up until now, at least 1 in every 5 computers still runs Windows XP system.
