South Korea ferry accident: School vice principal hangs himself after knowing his pupils died or are missing

The sinking of a South Korean ferry on Wednesday this week shocked the parents of the high school students on board bound for Jeju.

The ferry was carrying close to 500 passengers when the maritime accident happened.

In a rather distressing aftermath, the vice principal of the school whose pupils were reportedly dead or missing, committed a suicide by hanging himself outside the gym where families of the victims camped to wait for news and updates on the rescue operations.

Since Thursday, Kang Min-gyu had been out of sight. Then he was found hanging on his neck with his belt from a tree near the gym.
