St. Louis hit by tornado on Thursday

Sirens were sounded in St. Louis on Thursday when a pack heavy thunderstorms hit the central United States. Heavy rains and strong winds and possible twisters are feared by the residents.

Flood monitoring was deployed for Ohio River Valley.

A weather service report says, a tornado swept before sunrise in University City, Missouri. It went straight to St. Louis suburb. The winds were measured as packing a speed of 112 miles per hour.

Initial damages of the tornado were trees and a gas main. No injuries were reported so far.

Meanwhile, some portion of the Midwest could experience up to 5 inches of rain, the weather bureau said in a news report.
