UK helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan, kills 5 NATO troops

A UK helicopter had a fatal crash in southern Afghanistan, killing at least five (5) NATO troops.

Early reports say, the fatal aerial accident took place near Kandahar air base, in Kandahar province. The NATO forces were on the way to withdrawing troops from Afghanistan.

Officials could not confirm the nationalities of the victims but they are believed to be British.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) coalition of international forces sent its thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the troops involved in the crash.

According to defence analyst Paul Beaver, the crash involved a Lynx Mk9 helicopter.
