Google celebrates 40th anniversary of Rubik's Cube through Doodle

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 3-D combination puzzle that was invented by a Hungarian sculptor Ernő Rubik.

Google Doodle for Rubic's Cube

As Google joins the world in remembering and honoring the toy's creator, a doodle of the day was made for the cube's 40th year of existence.

Ernő Rubik was a professor of architecture. His invention was previously called 'Magic Cube'.

In 2009, Rubik's Cube won the German Game of the Year special award for Best Puzzle that year. It was known as the world's top selling puzzle game.
