Thailand Martial Law: Thai army declares martial law, denies coup attempt

Thailand Martial Law -- This just got in! Army declared martial law in Thailand on Tuesday, CNN reported. An aide to the Prime Minister said, the government was unaware of the move.

The aide said, the military action can be described as a semi coup d'etat. On the other hand, Lt. Gen. Nipat Thonglek told news that the declaration of martial all over Thailand was not a coup.

A Thai political science professor described the situation as 'very volatile'. Thitinan Pongsudhirak said, the military should maintain being 'even-handed'.

Other highly respected personalities in Thailand described the state of the country as 'on light martial law'.
