Zoren Legaspi owns four tax identification numbers (TINs); Violates revenue code if confirmed

Zoren Legaspi could be facing another set of issue with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), in addition to a tax evasion case amounting to P4 million pesos.

Zoren Legaspi tax evasion

In the latest request for inquiry on Mr. Legaspi, which he failed to attend but sent his accountant Flora Capili instead, BIR lawyer Emmanuel Ferrer Jr. said, having more than one (1) TIN numbers is illegal.

By law, having one (1) or more TINs violates the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) as it maybe used to evade payment of the correct taxes.

Accountant Capili pointed out that based on the certifications from the companies that hired Legaspi, his camp also noticed the same discrepancy.

Capili's statements maybe treated as testimonies but Assistant State Prosecutor Stewart Allan Mariano said, she was not assisted by a lawyer.
Yes, she may be testifying on her own personal beliefs but she is not assisted by a lawyer. If she makes admission, that would be inappropriate…I believe Mr. Legaspi needs a lawyer…The good accountant can be an expert concerning taxation but she is not a lawyer
For the mean time, Mariano gave Zoren Legaspi a chance to show up for another meeting - on June 6, when he is supposed to submit his counter-affidavit with the presence of a counsel.

Allegedly, Legaspi is said to have violated sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code.
