Araw ng Kalayaan gets a doodle from Google

Araw ng Kalayaan or Independence Day of the Philippines is being commemorated today, June 12. This day is also listed among the country's national non-working holidays.

This year marking the 116th anniversary of the independence declaration, Google joins the Filipino people in celebrating the national event. If you happen to drop Google homepage today, you would be seeing the doodle below:

The graphic art shows 'G' and the flag of the Philippines, followed by a groups people doing the 'Bayanihan', which is symbolized by people helping each other carry a small, or in the old times, a nipa hut. Bayanihan is a national feature and trait of the Filipinos embodying the spirit of communal unity.

Google has been dedicating doodles for the Philippine's 'Araw ng Kalayaan' for the past 5 years already.
