Palace declares new National Artists of the Philippines

The Malacañang palace finally declared the Philippine's new national artists through a series of proclamation orders signed on Friday.

As per reported in Lifestyle Inquirer, the National Artist for Visual Arts is Francisco V. Coching, Alice Reyes for Dance, Cirilo Bautista for Literature; Francisco F. Feliciano and Ramon Santos for Music; and Jose Maria V. Zaragoza (posthumous) for Architecture.

Albeit nominated due to her bright resume in the field of films, veteran actress Nora Aunor did not make it to the roster.

It can be recalled that Ms. Aunor was among the artists included in the list submitted by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Cultural Center of the Philippines to the palace.

The National Artists of the Philippines is highest state honor conferred on individuals seen to have excelled exceptionally in the field of arts.
