DOTC releases revised fines and penalties for traffic violations (Land Transportation)

The revised fines and penalties for traffic violations governing land transportation in the Philippines has just been released! You must have heard of the news already, otherwise do take note of the new rulings as your new reminders when out on the road.

To give you a glimpse of what's coming for you in the new order, here is a couple of the common violations for your reference:

  1. Driving without a valid driver's license - P3,000 (from P1,500)
  2. Failure to carry a driver's license or the vehicle's certificate of registration or official receipt while driving a motor vehicle - P1,000 (from P200 for the license and from P150 for the OR or CR) (Source: TopGear.Com.PH summary)

DOTC revised traffic fines and penalties 2014

On June 2 (Mon), the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), with its line agencies LTFRB and LTO released the new version of the traffic fines and penalties against road traffic violators.

The new set of rules for implementation is pursuant to Executive Order (EO) No. 125, under Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01.

The official document covered five (5) sections, as listed below:
  1. Violations in connection with licensing
  2. Violations in connection with motor vehicle registration / renewal / operation
  3. Violations in connection with dimensions, specifications, weight and load limits.
  4. Violations in connection with franchise
  5. General provisions
Effective implementation of the revised traffic fines and penalties: The order shall take effect at least fifteen (15) days following its publication in two (2) newspapers and general circulations, including three (3) copies of the document sent to the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR) UP Law Center, Diliman, Quezon City.
