Chinese paper's map of Hiroshima and Nagasaki angers Japan

Japan's Foreign Minister dismissed what the Chongqing Youth Daily, a Chinese newspaper connected to the Communist Youth League in the southwestern megacity of China published last week.

The paper had a full-page advertisement containing the map below, titled 'Japan wants a war again'. In the image were Hiroshima and Nagasaki with mushroom clouds over them, illustrating the US atomic bombings in 1945.

Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida called the stunt 'very, very ignorant'.

'As the foreign minister of the only country that has suffered an atomic bomb attack, and being a politician from Hiroshima, I cannot tolerate this', the Minister added.

After confirmation of the publication, Kishida sent an instruction to the Japanese consulate-general in Chongqing to initiate a formal protest.

China and Japan are in tension due to the series of territorial disputes happening over islands in the East China Sea. (Source)
