ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or 'Lou Gehrig's Disease', a neuro degenerative disease that basically affects the nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It destroys the body's motor capabilities.
This is by far the biggest 'bucket' ever used in the on-going 'ALS Ice Bucket Challenge' in order to gather funds to donate to the research dedicated to find the cure for the disease.
