Top 10 Richest in the Philippines: Henry Sy claims 'PH's Richest' title for the 7th time

Businessman Henry Sy has been named by Forbes magazine as the Philippine's richest, in its '50 richest Filipinos for 2014', released on Thursday.

Sy is the owner of the Philippine's biggest mall operator SM Prime Holdings. He is the country's wealthiest, for the 7th time in a row, Business Inquirer remarked.

Forbes said:
Richer than ever, thanks to rising share price for his SM Prime Holdings, country’s largest mall operator, and Banco de Oro. Kids run things now, but Hawaiian shirt-clad Henry was once a frequent sight in malls’ halls. Studied retail at father’s elbow in family’s convenience store. Wasn’t satisfied with merely filling dad’s shoes. Saved up to start footwear shop, the humble origins of retail empire.
