Northern California 6.1 earthquake hurts more than 100

A 6.1 earthquake hit the North Bay in North California, inflicting damages to properties in Napa on Sunday, August 24, 2014.

The geological phenomenon hurt, at least 100 people, along with homes destroyed due to fire, authorities reported.

As per U.S. Geological Survey, the tremor is the largest in Bay Area since the Loma Prieta quake in 1989.

The most affected area is Napa; About 120 people suffered injuries.

Meanwhile, in Vallejo, there were at least 41 buildings damaged, homes and churches, said Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Napa).

Other areas struck by the earthquake were Solano and Sonoma counties.
