About noon time on September 18 (Thurs), the ring or halo appeared near the sun.

People say, the radial ray of the sun is, but an indication of a coming rain. As it has been raining over the week, the notion could be true.

But as noted by NASA, the occurrence of the circular halo of the sun is not limited to a particular area or areas, or season for that matter. It can occur anywhere, although quite common in the fall, winter and spring.

The halo appears when "sunlight passes through ice crystals in cirrus clouds within the Earth's atmosphere", remarked University of Illinois in its 2010 Weather World Project.

On a rather complex take, did you know that the sun halos or rings often co-appear with a pair of bright lights called "sun dogs" (sundogs), a.k.a mock suns or phantom suns?

Such lights appear on either side of the sun.

Sun halo is also called 22° halo.

Are you also from Davao or somewhere in Mindanao and was able to capture the said nature's display of majestic imagery? You may share your photos with us by sending us a message through our Facebook page.
