Unfortunately, the pilot in his 70s died on impact. The incident happened at about 2PM.

Meanwhile, a 74-year-old woman inside the house that was hit by the plane was not hurt. She was attended to by paramedic afterwards.

The aircraft was a home-built single engine plane. It was supposed to return to its origin on the same day, police told reporters.

Although the pilot did not make it to survive, he was lauded for having done a great job of keeping the plane away from the houses near the crash site.

"The pilot did a good job keeping away from the houses", Country Fire Authority (CFA) spokesman Andrew Delaney said.

"He's missed the power lines...and missed houses really, he's just collected a bit of the fence and pretty much guided his way down the laneway", Delany added.
