WATCH: Arts used as healing tools by psychiatric institution

It is amazing how the "world's oldest psychiatric institution" has acquired quite a huge collection of artworks, mostly by its own patients.

And for years, Bethlem Royal Hospital in south London has been treating its psychologically challenged patients with the same arts and artefacts stored in its museum.

"What art does is that it gives somebody a free run.. just to go in to themselves and say, 'well this is basic, and what is life for me.. and this is what's going on for me'. And I think that's incredibly therapeutic", said one of the patients / artists interviewed in the hospital.

Take a look at this wonderful walk through as the hospital shows off its £4m gallery and museum.
