Slain Japanese journalist's peaceful tweet makes rounds on social media

Freelance journalist Kenji Goto was killed by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) on Sunday, reports said in various news portals.

The tragedy the befell Goto has been considered by the Japanese people as their 9/11.

"The cruelty of the Islamic State has made Japan see a harsh new reality…. We now realize we face the same dangers as other countries do.", a political scientist at the University of Tokyo told the Times.

In utmost memorial to the journalist, social media users found Goto's 4-year old Tweet, worth sharing and contemplating.

Roughly, it translates to:

"Closing my eyes and holding still. It’s the end if I get mad or scream. It’s close to a prayer. Hate is not for humans. Judgment lies with God. That’s what I learned from my Arabic brothers and sisters."

The Twitter account where the above quotation was taken was verified as Goto's by a friend named Toshi Maeda.

Maeda heads a Tokyo-based venture Pacific Bridge - a company that created a mobile-video application Mr. Goto used for his reports in Syria.
