A 200 or so years old mummified monk was discovered in Mongolia, in the province of Songino Khairkhan on January 27 (Tue).

The monk's body is almost still in its entirety. The monk is not actually dead but in the state of "very deep meditation", said Buddhist monk and doctor to the Dalai Lama, Dr. Barry Kerzin. It is in the spiritual state called "tukdam" -  a step away from becoming a real-life Buddha, added Kerzin.

The mummy was found sitting in lotus position.

Speculations say, the mummy could be the teacher of Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov (1852).

Police said, the monk's preserved body had been stolen from a certain cave in the Kobdsk region.

A forensic examination will be conducted for the said centuries old artifact, reported The Siberian Times.
