Ban civilians from owning body armor, Senator proposes (Senate Bill 2640)

Senate Bill 2640 -- Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago wants civilians banned from owning body armor or any military paraphernalia.

In the bill she filed, Santiago seeks to ban civilians from purchasing, owning and possessing any police and military items without authorization.

Santiago named the bill "Responsible Body Armor Possession Act". It was conceptualized after reports that the firearms and other belongings of the slain PNP-SAF members were being sold.

Senate Bill 2640 stipulates that any person found in violation shall pay the fine of P100,000 (Max) or " imprisonment of not more than 10 years or both.."
