KFC issues response to 'fried rat' controversy

Last week, a customer from California posted on Facebook, photos of an alleged "fried rat" out of the chicken meal he ordered from a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) branch in Compton on June 11.

Devorise Dixon claimed that he went to the said KFC outlet and presented his gross find.
WENT BACK TO KFC YESTERDAY AND SPOKE TO THE MANAGER SHE SAID IT IS A RAT AND APOLOGIZED, IT'S TIME FOR A LAWYER!!! BESAFE DON'T EAT FAST FOOD !!!
The controversy went viral on the Internet; It reached a point where KFC had to request Dixon to turn over the said meat so that it can be investigated by an independent laboratory. The latter refused to do so.

If you followed Dixon's posts online, you must have seen these angles of the image only:

On June 19, KFC Philippines posted the image below, with emphasis to the bitten part of the chicken:

The said post came with the following statement from KFC, in response:

KFC Fried Rat from KFC Philippines
Thank you for your concern,Vhic. A customer has made a serious claim against KFC in the US and refuses to cooperate in the investigation. The images the customer originally posted do not include this second angle because it clearly shows it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken. Based on this, and the fact that he refuses to allow anyone to see the product, KFC US is left to believe that he intended to deceive the public with this hoax and are considering all options. Even though this is a concern that happened in the US and is not related to KFC in the Philippines, food safety remains to be our highest priority, and we take any allegations of this manner very seriously. Our food is always freshly prepared in store following strict food safety and product quality standards.
Let us see how this issue is going to end.
