Yen will be meeting the iconic character Han Solo and will become his ally, wrote Strait Times, as per information from Apple Daily.

Fans of Donnie Yen (Yen Ji Dan) have been looking forward to seeing him break through the walls of Hollywood in the bigger sense of the word. The expectation stemmed from Yen's minor roles in the films such as "Blade 2" and "Shanghai Knights".

Interestingly, Star Wars movie producers had a debate over two ultimate choices for the said role - Yen and Jet Li. Ultimately, they settled for Yen for his lesser fee compared to Li, which is $10 million.

Yen is signed to pocket $4 million for the said major role. "He will be flying to London next month to begin filming.", said M.A.A.C.

Donnie Yen is one of the actors who portrayed the life of legendary Chinese martial arts master Ip Man, in the movie trilogy "Ip Man".

Star Wars Episode VIII "Jedi Masters" is tentatively scheduled for release on May 26, 2017, a year after Episode VII "A Force Awaken", which is booked on December 18 this year.
