Residents inside the university were surprised by the fire that hit one of the campus' function buildings - Alumi Center, which is also known as the Fonacier Hall.

As per Twitter post of the MMDA, the fire triggered 2nd alarm as of 11:37PM.

The UP Journalism Club posted about the fire as well:

The fire was put out by the firefighters who responded to the scene, as of a Tweet posted by @dat_morenokid, at 12:38 AM (Wed):

This is UP's second time in a row in the month of June in terms of fire incident.

On June 13, UPD's iconic canteen, CASAA Food Center was also hit by fire.

Update: Facebook user Jose Wendell Capili posted on group "nowehere to go but UP":
just got back from the fire. not the alumni hostel and certainly not fonacier hall (where the office of alumni relations is) but the duckpin bowling lanes and half of alumni canteen behind it (both are not under UP. both premises are being managed by the u.p. alumni association/upaa). nothing happened to our athletes. team manager atty taipan millan and assistant coach poch juinio moved them to a hostel outside diliman. their belongings are safe inside the alumni hostel. the hostel did not burn. the boys are safe. nobody was injured during the fire. thank god for our fonacier hall guard who first saw smoke coming out of the bowling lanes, tried to control the flames using our office fire extinguisher, alerted authorities, especially the firemen. the flames have been extinguished.
