Netizens find Haircut restriction for male students of San Pedro College in Davao too much and irrational

Netizens had mixed feelings and impressions towards the hair restriction set for the male students of San Pedro College (SPC) Davao, where photos of which were posted on the school's Office of Student Affairs Facebook page yesterday.

In a status post captioned "Please be guided accordingly. For more information, you may visit the office of Student Affairs..", the office posted five kinds of haircuts or hairstyles that are considered "not allowed" for SPC male students, as shown below:

San Pedro College hairstyle for male students pompadour

The first of the comments after the said notice was posted, reads "oa ha", which generally refers to the restriction as "over acting".

Another commenter asked, What do the hair styles have to do with academics? or academic development?

"All these hair styles seem descent compaired [compared] to MawHawk [mohawk]. Or long hair... Grow up... It not the 1980's anymore.", added Erique Mendoza.

An alumni of SPC thinks that the hairstyles limitation is just "too much".

"i think, instead of placing an info of what the hair style is or what makes it look good, they should state their reasons why it is not allowed...or why not just state the approved hair style or cut rather than placing all that is not allowed", Gian Acuram suggested.

Cesar Angelo Aurigue asked for the rationale on why the hairstyles were forbidden.

Jav Tarun said, "One of the reasons why our country and mindset in general is still lagging behind [is] because we give so much attention to the petty things like this rather than focusing on the things that we need to improve on so we can move forward."

"Coming from a school of fine arts that implements strict rules about dress codes and haircuts and white socks, these kind of rules limit the students' expression of personality. It doesn't mean if you don't have these hairstyles you'll be better in class.", expressed Turan.

This looks like a lengthy dialogue, should it be called for by the students and the SPC side. But for the mean time, male students of the said school should take note of the following hairstyles:

1. Top Knot
2. Man bun
3. Pompadour
4. Short Back and Sides
5. Undercut

What are your takes on this hairstyle restriction thing?
