HPG to arrest Pedicab, tricycle drivers on highways starting next week

The Philippine National Police's Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) said, it will arrest all pedicab, and or tricycle drivers caught on the highways starting Monday next week. A move that looks to reduce traffic in the major thoroughfares of the metropolis, GMA News published on Wednesday.

HPG to arrest pedicab tricycle on EDSA

As implied by HPG OIC PSSupt. Arnold Gunnacao, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is actually in the critical state when it comes to implementing the said rules.

The agency's staff could be mobbed by people belonging to certain tricycle drivers and operators association.

The HPG is merely putting things in place by strictly implementing the rules, he added.

He stressed that HPG's move is never an act to forbid tricycle and pedicab drivers from earning a living. It's just that, it has its proper places of operation.
Last week, the HPG banned illegal terminals along EDSA.

For the said drive, the HPG will be tapping the help of the local governments, including the Tricycle Regulatory Unit in the metropolis.
