First and foremost is the access and security in the affected mountainous areas. Unfortunately, the communities are somewhat cut off from aids.

Then, there are extreme conditions brought about by heavy rains and snow.

There is also lack of adequate communication, the UNICEF said.

Karin Hulshof, UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia said:
We are extremely concerned for the safety and well being of children, who are already the most at risk in any disaster and are now in danger of succumbing to the elements as temperatures plummet.
Remote areas in Afghanistan and Pakistan were struck by a 7.5 magnitude tremor on Monday.

The death toll rose to over 300, as per latest updates posted by The Weather Channel.
