Turkey downs Russian military aircraft due to airspace breach

Due to "border breach", Turkish military shot down a Russian jet, Tuesday reported Washington Post.

The same was confirmed by Russian officials; Apparently, one of their warplanes had been shot, although it claimed that it did not violate any air pace restriction.

The said plane must have been taken down by "shelling from the ground," Russian Ministry of Defense told news reporters.

Turkey is a member of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), an intergovernmental alliance anchored on the "North Atlantic Treaty" - a pact that was sign on April 4, 1949.

With that, this incident could fuel all the more the on-going airspace enmity between the two countries.
