Actor and City Councilor Paulate Barred From Gov't Service for Hiring "Ghost" Employees

Actor / Comedian and City Councilor of Quezon City Roderick Paulate has been permanently barred from any government service in the country after he was found hiring "ghost" employees.

The barring came with a resolution from the Office of the Ombudsman; Paulate was found administratively liable for hiring such bogus workers.

The resolution was approved by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, said Rawnsie Lopez, acting chief of the Ombudsman’s Public Information Office.

In the course of the investigation and prosecution, the Office of the Ombudsman found Paulate guilty of falsification of official public documents.

As such, aside from Roderick Paulate, another councilor - Francisco Calalay Jr. and his staffers Flordeliza Alvarez and Vicente Bajamunde were also dismissed from government service.

Sometime in 2012, Paulate and Calalay were placed under preventive suspension due to an allegation, wherein they hired 60 field inspectors, district coordinators and office aides in 2010, Inquirer wrote.

The civil service eligibility and retirement benefits of Paulate, Calalay and his staffers were forfeited by the anti-graft body of the Office of the Ombudsman.
