LTFRB to Make Provisional P30 Taxi Flagdown Rate Permanent

The P30 provisional taxi flagdown rate will be made permanent, the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Tuesday.

It will take effect on march 19, 2016.

The mandate says, cabs are to charge P3.50 for every first 500 meters, every succeeding 500 meters and during idle times for every 90 seconds. Breaking it down simply:

Flag down rate: P30
Every 500 meters: P3.50
Succeeding 500 meters: P3.50
Waiting time per 90 seconds: P3.50

Meanwhile, airport taxis' permanent flag down rate will be P60, which will take on a running time rate of P4.00 for every 90 seconds.

Cordillera Administrative Region is not included in the said taxi flagdown rate update.

The taxi calibration will be from the month of April to June.

Taxi with plate numbers ending in:
4, 9 and 2 - April
5, 7 and 0 - May
1, 3, 6, and 8 - June

LTFRB's decision was based on the recommendations of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

Passengers are advised to report cabs not complying with the new and permanent flag down rate to LTFRB's hotline.
